Superstarmatka Commonly Referred to as Satta Satta is a broad word used to describe “betting” in India or Hindi. The game of Matka is sometimes referred to as Satta interchangeably because of it’s early popularity. Satta is not currently legal in India but it is still big business. A large majority of Indians are betting more and more with local bookies.
Matka is a very simple game and essentially is a form of lottery. The game was founded by Ratan Khatri back in the 70’s and was popular up until the 90’s. The game is not played very much anymore, mostly in the regions of India and Pakistan.
You pick (3) three numbers from 0 – 9. For example 2,3,6 would be your first pick at random. To add more substance to the game the numbers are then added up (2 3 6) and a final number is given. In this example it is 11. You only use units place digit of this number. In this example it will be the 1. So your first draw would be 2,3,6 *1.
A second set of numbers is also drawn. They are drawn in the exact same way as the first draw. As a random example lets assume the numbers 2,6,6. This gives us a total of 14, we again only use the last digit so our final pick for the second set of numbers is 2,6,6 *4 Our final card would look like this: 2,3,6 *1 X 2,6,6 *4. Here is an example card.
To win at Matka Satta you have various options and rate payouts ranging from 9/1 to 999/1. A person can bet on the entire chance of all numbers being chosen to the first, last, or any other type of bet allowed by the Matka Bookie. For this reason it can be an attractive game because of the payout multiples but the game is merely a game of chance and therefore can not be beaten. It requires all luck to win but many are superstitious about their numbers and always play them, just like the lottery games.
The game is still played by the big time enthusiasts that remember the days of Ratan having celebrities pull draws for him. The game has since lost most of its following and Indians have chosen the faster paced action of betting on cricket games via mobile devices or live dealer casinos on the internet. What ever happened to the legendary Ratan Khatri – Matka King? After his arrest in 1995, he had to discontinue his games and now crooks are running the game he loved so much by fixing the numbers. To this day, Khatri can be seen at the racetrack betting horses for only 10-100 Rs. A big fall from grace but his name remains legendary among Satta enthusiasts in Mumbai.
